A crack is a different question
The sea trial measures how hard this boat’s rig works. It does not look inside a part. This step starts only when an inspection has found a crack, or a suspect fitting, and a decision is needed: sail on, repair, or replace.
What you receive
- Whether another bracket, fitting or piece of gear sits on a similar path
- Where the repeated load was highest. A ranking of the measured loads, not a health grade
- Cycles or sailing time to the limit, for the crack that was sized and the conditions sailed
- One action, written down: sail on and look again, re-head, or replace. The maker’s interval is not extended
How the assessment works
- The finding, on the table. Crack size and shape, modelled on the component and driven by the load spectrum from the outing
- Loads, only if measured. If that part was not measured, the gap is stated. A load is not invented for it
- One decision. A life number without an action is not issued
