SMENG-FF is a specialist engineering consultancy focused on practical Finite Element Analysis for static and dynamic structures, fatigue, residual strength and dynamic assessment for marine, yacht and defence applications.

We help owners, yards, NDT companies and technical managers turn inspection data and operational information into a clear operate / monitor / repair / replace decision.

Principal

SMENG-FF is led by Mariano Garijo Ortega, a mechanical and structural engineer based in Brisbane.

His background includes structural and mechanical projects in Spain and Australia, and specialist yacht and marine rigging work through The Rigging Point and Evolution Yacht Engineering, combining design, FEA and NDT-based remaining-life decisions.

How we work

Our approach is straightforward:

• Understand the real problem and the decision that needs to be made
• Work with the data that is actually available (sensor data, NDT results, operational history)
• Apply rigorous but practical analysis
• Present results in clear language that non-specialists can act on

We do not produce overly academic reports. We focus on answers that support real decisions: continue operating, monitor, repair or replace.

Additional capability

We also support geometry preparation and design modelling in SolidWorks when required as part of the analysis process.
